Terms of Tourism #1

1. The Nature Reserve : A nature reserve area because of its natural state has to Khasan plants, animals and ecosystems need to be protected.

2. Gondola : A vehicle to play while traveling, or in other words the cable car, which as above we can see everything from above.

3. Gondolier : Someone whose job is to take people for rides in gondola in Venice.

4. Puppet Show : Puppet art is usually watched by the tourists.

5. Horse Cart : A village of transportation has always been a culture of Javanese society until recently, used to transport sight see around slowly when traveling, usually foreign tourists.

6.  Crater : An attraction that Indonesia also have, is widely used as a tourist destination because of its beauty. Is the top of the crater of the volcano eruption that by passed material shaped big curves.

7. Accessibility : The degree achieved by the ease of an object, service or environment.

8. Marine Tourism : A tourist activity that has been developed as a Tour Destination Object.

9. A Traveler : Someone who moves between different geographic locations, for any purpose and any duration.

10. Foreign Tourist : Any person visiting a country, therefore in which he or she usually resides, for a period of at least 24 hours.

11. Inbound Tourism : Tourism of non-resident visitors within the economic territory of the country of reference.

12. Vacation Home (sometimes also designed as a holiday home) : Is a secondary dwelling that is visited by the members of the house hold mostly for purpose of recreation, vocation, or any other from of pleasure.

13. Audio Guide : Hand held device with sound volume control providing information from an audio tape when activated by visitor to museum, heritage sites or other place of tourism interest.

14. Supplier : The actual producer and seller of a unit of travel merchandise such a carrier, hotel or sightseeing operator.

15. Packager : Anyone organizing a tour including prepaid transportation and travel service, usually to more destination.

16. Charter : To hire the exclusive use of aircraft, or other vehicle.

17.Attendance Building : Marketing and promotional programs designed to increase attendance at conventions, trade shows, meetings, and events.

18. Leisure Travel : Travel for recreational, educational, sightseeing, relaxing and other experiential purposes.

19. Market Share : The percentages of business within a market category.

20. Market Volume : The total number of travelers within a market category.

Terms of Tourism #3

21. Net Rate : The rate provided to whosalers and tour operators that can be marked up to sell to the customer.

22. Peaks and Valleys : The high and low end of the travel season.

23. Person Trip Visit : Every time a person travels more than 100 miles (round-trip) i a day or stays overnight away from their primary domicile, whether for business or leisure purposes, they make one “person trip visit”.

24. Property : A hotel, motel, inn, lodge or other accomodation facility.

25.  Retailer : Another term for travel agents who sell products directly to consumers.

26. Receptive Operator : Specialist in handling arrangements for incoming visitors at a destination including airport transfers, local sightseeing, restaurant, accomodation, etc. Receptive Operator can be a travel agent or tour operator.

27. Site Inspection : An assessment tour of a destination or facility by a meeting planner, convention or trade show manager, site selection committee, tour operator, whosaler or incentive travel manager to see if it meets theirneeds and requirements prior to selecting a specific for an event.

28.  Tariff : Rate of fare quoted and published by a travel industry supplier. Usually an annual tariff is produced in booklet form for use in sales calls at trade shows.

29. Visitors Center : Travel information center located at a destination to make it easier for visitors to plan their stay.

30. Press Trip : Organized trips for travel writers and broadcasters for the purposes of assisting them in developing stories about tourism destinations.

Terms of Tourism #4

31. Occupancies : A percentage indicating the number of bed nights sold (compared number available) in a hotel, resort, motel or destination.

32. Icon : A facility or landmark which is visually synonymous with a destination.

33. Fulfillment : Servicing consumers and trade who request information as a result of advertising or promotional programs.

34. Discounted Fare : Negotiated air fare for convention, trade show, meeting, group and corperate travel.

35. Destination Marketing Organization : Local tourism marketing organizations, such as convention and visitors bureaus or chambers of commerce.

36. Frequency : The number of times an advertisement appears during a given campaign.

37. Chambers of Commerce : Typically, a chamber of commerce will specialize in local economic development that can be include tourism promotion.

38. Buyer : A member of the travel trade who reserves room blocks from accomodations or coodinates the development of a travel product.

39. Motorcoach : Deluxe equipment used by most tour operators in group tour programs. Amenities include reclining seats, bathrooms, air conditioning, good lighting and refreshment availability.

40. Rooms blocks : Several rooms held for a group.

Terms of Tourism #5

41. Travel Trade : The collective term for tour operators, whosalers and travel agents.

42.  Tour Whosalers : An individual or company that sells tour packages and tour product to travel agents.

43. Mission (Sales) : A promotional and sales trip coodinated by a state travel office, conventional and visitors bureau or key industry member to increase product awareness, sales and to enhance image.

44. International Marketing : Marketing a destination, product or service to consumers and the trade outside the of the United States.

45. Audit Coupon : All multi-part travel ticket, regardless of the mode of transport involved, have travel coupon which are collected from the passenger when the journey undertaken, and an audit coupon, used for accounting purpose.

46.  Internal  Tourism : Comprises domestic tourism plus inbound tourism, that is to say, the activities of resident and non-resident visitors within the country of reference as part of domestic or international tourism trips.

47.  Beauty Spot : A beautiful place in the countryside that attracts tourists.

48. Butlins : A group of British holiday camps (Group of buildings containing restaurants, swimming pools, bars, places to sleep, etc, where people can spend their holiday).

49. Guidebook : A book for tourist that provides information about a place.

50. Heritage Center : A building where tourists and other visitors get information about a place and its people, including information about the natural features of the area.

Terms of Tourism #6

51.  High Season : A part of the year when many tourist visit a place and travel costs are therefore higher.

52. Holiday Resort : A place where a lot of people go on holiday, usually one with a lot of hotes, bars, and restaurants.

53. Holiday Season : The time of year when most people take their holidays.

54. Holiday Village : A village of small houses built for people to stay in while on holiday, usuallynear the sea, a river, or lake.

55.  Low Season : The time of year when a place or business is least busy, for example because there are not many tourist. The busiest period of the year is high season.

56.  Mecca : A place that a lot of people visit, because it is famous for something that they want to see or do.

57. Phrase Book : A small book that contains usefull words and phrases in a particular foreign language, used especially by tourists.

58. Showplace : An impressive place that tourists often visit.

59. Sunspot : A very sunny place that is popular for holidays.

60. Tourist Trap : A place that is visited by many tourists and is therefore crowded and expensive

Terms of Tourism #7

61.  Travel Warning : An official notice in which a goverment warns its citizens not to travel to a particular country or region because it is dangerous.

62.  Whale Watching : The activity of watching whales.

63. Well-Traveled : A well-travelled place is visited or used by many people.

64.  Courier : Someone whose job is to help and look after tourist on an organized holiday.

65. Allergy Awareness : Consumer demand to know the ingredients used to create food products, to avoid allergic reactions.

66. Allocentric : A traveller willing to take risks, willing to go without the normal conveniences of life in order to gain a fuller travel experience. These travellers prefer to go where few people have before and are often referred to by marketers as innovators, first to try a new travel destination in its development stage.

67. Amusement Park : An aquatic zoo that features a wide variety of fish and sea creatures in tanks for viewing. It may include marine mammals such as porpoises.

68.  Circle Trip : A type of round trip in which the route taken to the destination differs from the route taken from the destination.

69. Clustering : Locating a variety of tourism sites and products in one area to create easy access for visitors.

70. Condominium : An individually owned apartment-style unit located in an area filled with recreational amenities; can be rented out to other travellers when not occupied by the owner.
